BIG ROCK, Ill. (AP) — The Kane County Sheriff's Office says a firefighter has been killed in a dog attack at her home in the northern Illinois village of Big Rock. Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that 44-year-old Dawn Brown died Monday. She was a full-time firefighter and paramedic for the Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District and worked part-time as a paramedic for the Big Rock Fire Protection District. Officials say Brown was home alone when her mastiff attacked her. Brown and her husband also have two other dogs, a pit bull and a boxer. Sheriff's officials say Kane County Animal Control has taken custody of all three dogs. Big Rock is about 60 miles west of downtown Chicago.
