Moline's Marley Patrick (15) drive the ball back over the net as Orion's Katie Garrity (32) puts up a block during the second game played at Orion Thursday Aug 30.
A late-season home victory over Orion enabled the defending West Central North volleyball champions from Sherrard to grab a share of this year's division crown with the Chargers.

When it came time to honor the WCC North's premier spikers, it's only fitting that the two co-champs account for almost half of the first-team spoils. Sherrard (26-10, 9-1) had three first-team selections, while Class 2A sectional finalist Orion (31-5-1, 9-1) had two.

Sherrard's first-team trio were senior setter Carly Adams, senior middle hitter Hannah Lavens and senior libero Haley Peterson.

For Orion, the front and back rows were equally represented with its two first-team choices -- senior middle hitter Katie Garrity and senior libero McKenzie Ranson.

The West Central North's other area members -- Monmouth-Roseville and Rockridge -- had one first-team selection apiece. The Rockets were represented by senior middle hitter Taylor Cullen; the Titans placed one of their top youngsters, sophomore hitter Emma Willhardt, on the team.
