Police investigate an alleged robbery at the Union Federal Savings and Loan, 1507 13th Street Viola, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.
The Viola Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the Union Federal Savings and Loan bank Thursday morning.
Police Chief Tom Mulder said in a news release that the robbery occurred about 9:42 a.m. when a male wearing dark clothing and a ski mask entered the bank and demanded money, then fled westbound.
He is believed to have got into a car seen leaving the area, according to the release.
Anyone with information on the suspect, or who saw any suspicious activity is asked to call the Viola Police Department at (309) 596-4111, the Mercer County Sheriff's Department at (309) 582-5194 orCrime Stoppers at (800) 582-2762 or (309) 582-3500.
The Viola Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, the Aledo, Joy and Rock Island police department, Illinois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
