Loebsack holds off Archer

U.S. Rep. David Loebsack, D-Mount Vernon

U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Mount Vernon, withstood a challenge from Republican John Archer Tuesday night to retain the redrawn 2nd Congressional District.

Rep. Loebsack collected 199,846 votes, or 55.28 percent, while Mr. Archer, of Bettendorf, received 154,604 votes, or 42,77 percent.

In Scott County, Rep. Loebsack received 46,672 votes and Mr. Archer received 38,579.

U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Dubuque, also won re-election Tuesday night in the 1st Congressional District.

Rep. Braley, who used to represent Davenport before redistricting, defeated Republican Ben Lange. Rep. Braley received 216,618 votes to Mr. Lange's 159,665 votes.
