Judges overwhelmingly win retention

Voters in the four counties comprising the 14th Judicial Circuit overwhelmingly supported judges seeking retention.
According to unofficial election results provided by the county clerks in Rock Island, Henry, Mercer and Whiteside counties, the following judges received the following number of votes:
--Jeffrey W. O'Connor, 83,484
-- Mark A. Vande Wiele, 82,174
-- Michael F. Meersman, 81,381
-- Stanley B. Steines, 79,138.
Voters also supported the retention of two 3rdDistrict Appellate court judges, Tom M. Lytton who received 82,018 votes and Daniel L. Schmidt, who received 80,524 votes in the four Quad-Cities area counties in the appellate district, which stretches across the state.
