CHICAGO (AP) — Some Illinois voters say they're glad the presidential election is almost over.
Chicagoan Tom Smurr turned out to vote early Tuesday but says he's tired of the presidential campaign's negative tone. Smurr adds that he couldn't watch the last debate between President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney because of all the yelling.
After casting his ballot on Chicago's northwest side, Timothy Rowe said he's been appalled by the vast amounts of money spent by both sides. Rowe says it's especially bad given the country's lingering economic problems and that there needs to be a better way to fund elections.
The 23-year-old hospital research coordinator says he voted for President Barack Obama and says he thinks the country is 'moving in the right direction.'
