CAMBRIDGE -- Saturday's death of Henry County Board candidate Jim King sets up the possibility of a two-year appointment for his seat, should he win in today's election.
Mr. King, 71, of rural Geneseo, was a former Democratic two-term board member who was seeking to again serve District 1 of the county board. He died Saturday of pancreatic cancer.
District 1 voters will select 10 board members from 20 candidates on the ballot. If Mr. King is elected, it would create a vacancy that would be filled by a two-year appointment of a Democrat by the Henry County Board chairman, according to Henry County Election Commissioner Barb Link.
