The new "Night of Illusions" drag show has proven successful at The Speakeasy, 1818 3rd Ave., Rock Island, and now is part of the venue's monthly lineup.

"There seems to be a demand in this market for the shows. We are tapping into that local audience that wants to see a drag show but might not be entirely comfortable going to one of the clubs in Davenport to see one," said Brett Hitchcock, director of audience development for Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, which runs the Speakeasy. "However, that being said, we are still getting a fair amount of gay and lesbian audience members as well."

Part of a series that started in September, the next drag show will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, and subsequent shows will be presented Dec. 7 and Jan. 4.Tickets are $10. They're available at the Circa '21 ticket office, 1828 3rd Ave., or at (309) 786-7733, ext. 2.

Other mainstays on the Speakeasy schedule are the Manny Lopez Big Band (Nov. 9), The Blacklist "100 Laughs" (Nov. 10, 17. 23. 24, and 30), Blacklist "Shots 'n' Giggles" (Saturday and Nov. 21), Blacklist "Drinkin' Spelling Bee" (Nov. 8) and stand-up comedy (Nov. 16).
