The Augustana Historical Society has dedicated its 2012 Annual Dinner to a celebration of the life and legacy of Betsey Brodahl, dean emerita at Augustana College and a former board member of AHS.

The program begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the Westerlin Dining Center, 3200 10th Ave., Rock Island.

Ms. Brodahl, who died April 20 at the age of 89, was a professor and administrator at Augustana for 40 years. She continued to have an impact on the Quad-Cities community following her retirement in 1987. She was a tireless promoter of the arts until a stroke in 2004 prompted her to move closer to family in Nebraska.

On Nov. 7, Dr. Ann Boaden, author of "Light and Leaven: Women Who Shaped Augustana's First Century," will speak about Ms. Brodahl. Following dessert, the program will move to the adjacent House on the Hill, where Ms. Brodahl lived for half a century. There, former Quad-Cities Poet Laureate Dick Stahl will present original poems inspired by Ms. Brodahl and her many passions.

Price for the dinner and program is $25 per person, with reservations required by Thursday. For information and reservations, call (309) 794-7419 or email kaiswanson@augustana.edu.
