Post-season volleyball is nearly upon us, and Thursday night we got a little clearer picture of how things will shape up.
Seedings were released and there wasn't too much surprise for any of the metro schools. Officially, pairings will be released today, but from a regional standpoint, brackets are easy to draw up.
Take a look:
4A United Township regional: The six team regional has what amounts to a north pod and a south pod. Moline and UT will play with the winner getting top-seeded Rock Island, while Richwoods and Pekin will play with their winner taking on Normal West who received the No. 2 seed. In Alton, Quincy and Edwardsville will probably square off for the regional championship again, while both regionals feed into the Normal Community Sectional.
3A Geneseo regional: The host Leafs are the No. 3 seed behind IVC and Dunlap, as the Eagles try and win the regional Rock Island denied them of last year. Dunlap and Geneseo will square off in the semifinal. Galesburg and Monmouth-Roseville are the other teams in the regional, and will play a 4-5 play-in.
2A Fulton regional: The Pioneers go up north for their regional, which is another IHSA change, and will have to play Prophetstown in a play-in game with the winner earning the right to play top-seeded Riverdale.
