Which approach to modernizing county offices do you support: Consolidation at the Quad Cities Industrial Center, new construction or some other plan?

We need to evaluate the most cost-effective way to consolidate the county offices. If that means moving to the QCIC or maintaining the courthouse and existing county building, whatever saves the county taxpayers more is what I would support.

Should the county hire a professional administrator to oversee day-to-day operations?

To hire a professional administrator would cost more than the existing county board that has been doing the same job for years.

Do you support reducing the size of the county board?

I think the current size of the board is the most effective way to represent all of Rock Island county.

What are your goals generally for the county, if you're elected?

My goal if elected for the county is to keep taxes as low as possible while maintaining the quality services we have in place.

I know from experience the challenges the current county buildings present. I am in favor of renovating the existing buildings and bringing them to modern standards. They are landmarks of the city, and county, and should have been maintained, but over the decades, inaction by politicians has gotten us here.

Should the county hire a professional administrator to oversee day-to-day operations?

I think the county would benefit from having a professional administrator. It might change the perception that everything in this county is political.

Do you support reducing the size of the county board?

Yes, I support reducing the size of the board. A smaller board would be more accountable to the voters and save money. I welcome the opportunity to discuss my record with voters again in two years.

What are your goals generally for the county, if you're elected?

I would like to see economic growth and balanced budgets with money set aside so we could have a cushion to get through bad economic times without turning first to the taxpayer. I am running to serve and to better Rock Island County.
