Ivan Harkey, 2433 Ridge Road, Aledo, formerly of Preemption, will celebrate his 85th birthday at home with family eating pie.

In 1927, he was born in Buffalo Prairie, the son of Harry and Katie Mueller Harkey. He married Freda Hall on Sept. 6, 1947, in Rock Island. She passed away in 2009.

His children are Dianne (Dennis) Swinford, Aledo; and Terry (Linda) Harkey and Lynn (Mark) Ornelis, Preemption. He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ivan retired from Alcoa in 1989.
