Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a celebration of life and open house to honor his memory from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at the Life Church, 111 N. State St., Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Clement Lodge 680 or Illinois Rainbow Camp Fund. Vandemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family with the arrangements. Spencer was born on Dec. 26, 1932, in Chicago, the son of August Charles and Bernice L. Welchman Troester. He was a graduate of Luther North High School, Chicago, and attended Valparaiso University. Spencer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Nancy Hinz on Oct. 15, 1960, in Park Ridge, Ill. Spencer had been employed by Binks Manufacturing, Elmhurst, Ill., as a sales representative and currently was working for Hy-Vee, Silvis. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Clement Lodge 680. Spencer was a member of Order of Eastern Star, International Order Rainbow for Girls, where he was a member of the State Executive Committee. He was also a member of Order of Scottish Rite and past president of the Chemical Coaters Association. Spencer was an avid Green Machine and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and followed his children's and grandchildren's events and NASCAR racing. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; four daughters, Cindy (Bill) Shipley, Peoria, Ill., Denise Troester, and partner, Jane Cade, Weldon, Ill., Cherie (Collin) Walburn, Tucson, Ariz., Beth (Mike) Toom, Geneseo; a son, Spencer (Jill) Troester Jr., Cleveland, Ill.; and 12 grandchildren, Brent Shipley, Tyler, Garrett, Ella Toom, Adriana, Madison Walburn, Savannah, Alyssia, Camryn, Hailey, Gunner, Malachi Troester.
