IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A man charged with robbing a bank in Iowa City has been turned over to federal authorities

Officials say 34-year-old Eric Martin, of Davenport, waved a loaded handgun inside the bank and tried to point it at police officers during a chase. Martin was captured an hour after the robbery at Hills Bank on April 23.

He'd been held in the Johnson County on $1 million bond.

The Gazette says U.S. marshals picked up Martin on Tuesday morning. He faces a federal charge of bank robbery with a firearm.

A federal affidavit says Martin had a backpack containing a loaded 9mm handgun and more than $23,000 when he was apprehended.

Online court records don't list Martin's attorney.
