Deloris Hopkins-Norris, 79, a resident of Chicago, departed this life on Saturday, April 7, 2012.
As to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Brookins Funeral Home, Chicago, assisted with the arrangements. A memorial service will be held on May 5 at 11 a.m. at Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Deloris (affectionately called "Dee") was born Jan. 22, 1933, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Curtis Hopkins and Izola Ross. Deloris was a nurse and worked for the state of Illinois for more than 35 years until retirement. She continued to do nursing in private duty. Deloris enjoyed being a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago.
Deloris leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Joanne France-Silas (Melvin) and Annette France, both of Rock Island; siblings, Karel Robinson and Rhonda Hopkins, Inglewood, Calif., Marian Wright-Cavitt, Carbondale, Ill., Vernell Hopkins and Deborah Lowery, East St. Louis, Christine Griffin, Johnny and David Hopkins, Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Adrienne, Brianne, Ashley, Zachary and Katrina; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends from Trinity Church.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Dr. C.L. France, MD.
