Staff report,

The Rock Island-Milan Booster Club honored 25 Rocky athletes, along with their parents and coaches, at last Friday's track & field invitational at Public Schools Stadium. The group represented the largest number of first-team All-State athletes named in a one-year period in the school's tradition-rich history.

To be recognized, the student must have been selected first-team All-State by a major news organization, a state coaches' association, or by being a medalist at the IHSA state championship meet for their sport.

The honoree receiving a walnut "Illinois shaped'' plaque recognizing their achievement included Chasson Randle (basketball), Brad Steger (football) and Charles Holliday (swimming). Also honored from wrestling were Ignace Hakizimana, Darius Henderson, Kyle Kerres and B.J. McGhee. Boys' track accounted for seven honorees (Thurgood Brooks, Derrick Ellis, Chris Glover, Breshawn Hawthorne, DayQwon Jones, Arius Montjoy, Brandon Richardson) while girls' track had 10 (Celeste Arteaga. Jessica Bacon, Olivia Brooks, Joanna Cone, Telis Garcia, Troy Jackson, Ebonie Johnson, LaCresha Linton, Kirsten Tauke, Mystique Thompson).
