DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) -- A Dubuque man was killed after he was hit in the head by a log that rolled off a logging truck at a lumber company, officials said.

Authorities were called to the accident Thursday afternoon at Sitco Inc.

James Schlarman, 54, was loosening a chain holding the logs to the trailer when one rolled off and hit him, the Dubuque County sheriff's office said.

Schlarman was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was planned.
