CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (AP) Authorities say they've found the body of a missing swimmer in the Fox River in suburban Chicago.

Carpentersville police said late Sunday that the man's body was recovered after hours of searching. The victim wasn't immediately identified pending notification of family.

Police say he was fishing on the river with friends. They decided to go swimming when they got caught in the river's current. The Carpentersville Fire Department rescued the victim's friend. A third friend didn't enter the water.

The Carpentersville Police Department and Kane County coroner are investigating.

Carpentersville is about 40 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.
