Betty (Mary E.) Garner, Moline, will celebrate her 90th birthday with family and friends at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Parish House at First Lutheran Church, 1600 20th St., Rock Island. No gifts are necessary. Cards are appreciated.
"Betty" was born Mary Elizabeth Christensen on April 6, 1924, the daughter of Blanche (Starr) and Art Christensen. She married Richard F. Garner on Sept. 5, 1949. He died on March 21, 1980.
Their children are Carol, Jim (Jenny Eiklor), Nancy (James Ebert) and David (Jill Seaholm). Her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ebert, is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
A graduate of Cornell College, Betty is retired from the Moline Public Library.
