Donald "Big D" Bratton, 73, of Silvis, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Per his wishes there, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Donald was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in Bettendorf, the son of Harold and Dortha Taylor Bratton. He married Frances Kannenberg on June 3, 1961, in Rock Island. For 32 years, Donald worked as an inspector for John Deere Foundry, retiring in 1992. He was a board member of UAW Local 81. Donald loved traveling and western collectables. Survivors include his wife, Frances Bratton, Silvis; son, Steve (Sherri) Bratton, Ruby, Mich.; grandson, William Steelman, Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Kendra, Jacob and Erica, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Dan (Jolene) Kannenberg, East Moline, Mike (Lucy) Kannenberg, East Moline; sisters-in-law, Susan (Jerry) Hansen, Rock Island, and Gail Bratton, Moline.
