Geneseo's Ford earns all-NIB12 honors

Geneseo senior guard Emily Ford earned All-Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division honors. Ford was one of seven players to be a unanimous first-team selection.

This season, Ford averaged 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 42 percent from the field. With Ford in the lineup, Geneseo compiled a 15-16 record and a 5-5 mark in the NIB12. The Maple Leafs advanced to the Class 3A regional championship game.

Geneseo juniors Jamie DeFauw and Molly DeBrock each were named honorable mention.

1964 — 50 years ago: Police reported five youths have been involved in the theft of about seven cars in recent weeks. Three of the youths were arrested Saturday afternoon, one was in custody as the result of a previous arrest, and the fifth is expected to be arrested today.
1989 — 25 years ago: The Rock Island/Milan School Board is asking the city to tear down Franklin School and allow the school district to pay back the estimated $100,00 cost during 10 years.
