Jerome Harper
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Jerome was born on Dec. 15, 1930, in Rock Island, the son of Roscoe C. and Rosine M. Borst Harper. He married Lois E. Hay on Jan. 31, 1976, in East Moline. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2011, in East Moline. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a combine repairman for John Deere. Jerome managed Hasty's Mobile and Wilson's DX. He started the St. Louis Cardinal Fan Club in the Quad-Cities. He also was a founding member of the King Pin's Car Club. Survivors include his sons, Lloyd Harper, Madison, Tenn., Dan Harper, Marion, Ohio, Ken (Beth) Harper, O'Fallon, Mo., Scott (Tracy) Harper, East Moline; stepdaughters, Pam (Harlan) Bachmeyer, Copeland, Texas, Teri Champion, North Port, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 1988 -- 25 years ago: Fines for overdue items at the Rock Island Public Library are beingincreased to 10 cents per day per item effective July 1. Fines will not be prorated onbooks returned after that date.
