The Top 10s in last week's Quad Cities Prep Basketball Power Polls showed off their muscle in the last week.
Those top boys' and girls' teams in the local media rankings combined on a dominating 37-3 record since last Wednesday's vote.
That made this week's bi-state ballot rather boring for those craving change, such as the red-hot Moline, which failed to shake up this week's Boys' Top 10, but did re-emerge on the voting radar with a 12th win in the last 15 games.
In fact, led by unbeaten Bettendorf (16-0), the Top 10 boys' squads repeated their poll positions from a week ago.
The Top 10 girls' teams remained the same, too, though there was some slight jockeying because of the voting totals.
Behind repeat No. 1 Rock Island (22-3), last week's No. 2 (23-2 Annawan) and No. 3 (16-2 Assumption) share the second spot this week, each earning 161 voting points.
New No. 4 Riverdale (22-2) and No. 5 Muscatine (16-2) also flip-flopped spots by a point. The 6-10 spots remained exactly the same, though.
The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus adminsters the poll for a sixth straight season. Participating co-sponsors this season include WQAD-TV 8, MC22, WFXN-AM 1230's Quad Cities Radio Group, Aledo's WRMJ-FM 102.3, the Kewanee-based Regional Radio Group and the Clinton Herald.
Bettendorf received 15.5 of the 20 first-place boys' ballots cast, for 190.5 of a possible 200 voting points.
No 2 Rock Island (2), the poll's preseason No. 1, and No. 3 Rockridge (2.5) accounted for the other top nods.
The Rocky girls were named No. 1 on 15 ballots for 192 points, with Annawan (3) and Assumption (2) receiving the other first-place support.
Oddly, those latter Rocks accounted for one of last week's rare losses, dropping a one-point heartbreaker on the road at Peoria Notre Dame after clinching no worse than a share of their second straight Western Big 6 Conference title two days earlier.
Besides Rocky, also losing in girls' action was No. 8 Wethersfield (21-7), which fell for the second time to both Annawan and fellow Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament finalist Stark County (18-8), which continues to receive votes.
Last week's only Top 10 boys loss happened Tuesday when No. 1 Bettendorf beat No. 4 Assumption (12-4) for the second time this season.
Ironically, while the Top 10s remained stagnant this week, voting recognition did expand to include 19 boys' and 16 girls' teams -- up two squads each.

7. Kewanee (17-3) 80 7 -- Last week: Beat Prophetstown, 54-52 Thursday. 12. Moline (15-9) 13 NR -- Last week: Won at Galesburg, 57-56 Friday; Beat Wheaton Warrenville South, 61-35 Saturday in the QC-Wheaton Shootout at Moline. 13. Northeast Goose Lake (16-4) 7 12t -- Last week: Beat Camanche, 69-40 Friday; Lost to Central DeWitt, 57-42 Saturday; Beat Bellevue, 58-39 Tuesday. Note: The Rebels have been nicked in each of the last three weeks, yet keep finding a way to hang in the poll. 14. Orion (14-10) 4 14 -- Last week: Lost at No. 3 Rockridge, 65-44 Friday; Won at Knoxville, 70-39 Tuesday. Note: The Chargers are an impressive 13-5 outside of the withering West Central North Conference. Next: Friday at Sherrard; Monday at Carthage Illini West.
15. Riverdale (12-11) 3 15 -- Last week: Beat No. 12t Erie, 63-60 Friday; Lost at No. 3 Rockridge, 62-52 Tuesday. Note: The defending TRAC champs have hung tough this season. That makes them a bad postseason matchup come regional tournament time. Next: Thursday hosts Amboy.
16 (tie). Galva (17-3) 2 17 -- Last week: Beat Stark County, 69-62 Friday; Beat West Central, 70-55 Monday in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament. Next: Friday vs. Stark County & Saturday vs. TBD in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament; Tuesday hosts No. 8 Wethersfield.
16 (tie). Preston (15-2) 2 NR -- Last week: Beat Bellevue, 76-32 Tuesday; Won at Midland Wyoming, 69-49 Friday; Beat Clinton Prince of Peace, 76-40 Tuesday. 18 (tie). Erie (16-11) 1 12t -- Last week: Lost at No. 15 Riverdale, 63-60 Friday; Lost to Clinton, 48-37 Saturday at Fulton's Eric Ottens Shootout. Note: Out of the TRAC title race with four league losses, the Cardinals can play the spoilers role this weekend and deal No. 11 Newman a serious blow. Next: Saturday at No. 11 Sterling Newman;
18 (tie). Galesburg (13-12) 1 18t -- Last week: Lost to Moline, 57-56 Friday. Note: The Streaks have lived up to their nickname this season, knocking off No. 2 Rock Island for instance, but also losing to let Moline appear in the poll. Next: Friday hosts state-ranked Quincy; Saturday hosts Blue Island Eisenhower.
-- Dropped out: None.
ALSO ON THE RADAR:
-- Bureau Valley (18-10): Last week: Beat Morrison, 44-43 Friday. Note: The Warkins Holiday Tournament champs are fifth in the Three Rivers Conference behind, in order, the locally-ranked league quartet of Kewanee, No. Newman, Riverdale and Erie. Next: Tuesday at Princeton.

Rank. Team (1st) (Rec.) Pts. LWK.
1. Rock Island (15) (22-3) 192 1 -- Last week: Beat No. 12 Galesburg, 66-60 Thursday; Lost at Peoria Notre Dame, 71-70 Saturday. Note: Two of Rocky's three losses this season have been to Peoria programs. The first was to state-ranked regional host Richwoods. Next: Thursday hosts Moline; Monday hosts Peoria Central.
2 (tie). Annawan (3) (23-2) 161 2 -- Last week: Beat Galva, 73-33 Wednesday; Won at Henry-Senachwine, 68-27 Thursday; Monday hosts River Ridge (cancelled); Beat No. 8 Wethersfield, 64-50 Wednesday. Note: The Bravettes have won 10 straight and both LTC titles since settling for fourth at the State Farm Holiday Classic. Now the mission is to go a step farther than last spring and reach the Final Four at state. Next: Thursday hosts Chillicothe IVC; Wednesday vs. TBD at the Illinois 1A Annawan Regional.
2 (tie). Assumption (2) (16-2) 161 3 -- Last week: Beat Davenport North, 70-20 Friday; Won at Iowa City West, 76-52 Saturday; Won at Bettendorf, 57-28 Tuesday. Note: What a dynasty. The Knights are shooting for a 10th straight Mississippi Athletic Conference crown before seeking a third straight Iowa 3A title. Assumption doesn't want to share with Muscatine this time, either. Next: Friday hosts Clinton; Tuesday at No. 5 Muscatine.
4. Riverdale (22-2) 120 5 -- Last week: Beat Erie, 68-31 Thursday; Won at Amboy, 55-41 Saturday; Won at Sterling Newman, 52-36 Tuesday. Note: The defending Three Rivers Conference champs can force a tie atop the league standings by winning their regular-season finale this weekend. Next: Friday hosts Fulton; Wednesday vs. TBD in the Illinois 2A Sterling Newman Regional.
5. Muscatine (16-2) 119 4 -- Last week: Beat Bettendorf, 47-28 Friday; Won at Davenport West, 57-23 Tuesday. Note: Bradley-bound Leti Lerma and the Muskies have their rematch for a MAC title share early next week. Next: Friday at North Scott; Tuesday hosts No. 2t Assumption.
6. Sherrard (23-3) 98 6 -- Last week: Beat Monmouth-Roseville, 43-25 Saturday; Beat Knoxville, 48-44 Monday. Note: An outright West Central North title is on the line tonight for the two-time defending league champs. The Tigers are shooting for bigger game, though, seeking another "Sweet 16'' appearance. Next: Thursday at Orion; Tuesday vs. TBD in the Illinois 2A Rockridge Regional.
7. Prophetstown (24-3) 90 7 -- Last week: Won at Kewanee, 46-29 Saturday; Won at Fulton, 49-21 Tuesday. Note: The Prophets can share the Three Rivers Conference crown again with a victory this weekend. A sectional title will be much tougher, though, with the regional top seeds in the same Sweet 16 event as top-ranked defending state champ Freeport Aquin. Next: Friday hosts Erie; Wednesday vs. TBD in the Illinois 1A Polo Regional.
8. Wethersfield (21-7) 40 8 -- Last week: Lost to No. 14 Stark County, 56-39 Wednesday; Won at Monmouth United, 62-34 Monday; Lost at No. 2 Annawan, 64-50 Wednesday. Note: A third straight 20-win season and 69-21 record over the last three seasons is impressive. But a second straight regional crown will be hard-earned with the Geese in a regional hosted by No. 2t Annawan. Next: Thursday at Morrison; Wednesday vs. TBD at the Illinois 1A Annawan Regional.
9. United Township (16-11) 38 9 -- Last week: Beat Alleman, 39-20 Thursday. Note: Why vote for the Panthers, one panelist wondered the other day. UT has played one of the state's toughest schedules this season, meeting 10 state-ranked squads so far this season, and beating three of those teams, including this week's Big 6 foe. Next: Thursday at No. 12 Galesburg; Saturday hosts Pekin.
10. Mediapolis (18-1) 27 10 -- Last week: Beat Wapello, 66-41 Friday; Won at Keokuk, 54-45 Tuesday. Note: The 1-2 sophomore punch of double-figure scorers Andrea Larson and Heidi Hillyard mean the Bulldogs will be good beyond this year. Next: Thursday at Highland Riverside; Friday at No. 11 Burlington Notre Dame.
ALSO RECEIVING VOTES:
11. Burlington Notre Dame (18-2) 17 11 -- Last week: Beat New London, 80-42 Friday; Beat Keokuk, 83-80 Monday. Note: Iowa 2A's ...-ranked squad is the fourth-highest scoring girls' basketball team in Iowa. Next: Friday at No. 10 Mediapolis.
12. Galesburg (17-10) 15 12 -- Last week: Lost at No. 1 Rock Island, 66-60 Thursday. Note: Top gun Jessica Lieber sits 49 points away from the magic 500-point mark for the season. Next: Thursday hosts No. 9 United Township; Saturday hosts Winnetka New Trier.
13 (tie). Orion (18-8) 9 13 -- Last week: Beat Macomb, 49-37 Thursday; Lost at Illini West, 47-43 Saturday. Note: Since losing to North Scott in the Mississippi River Shootout, the super Chargers won eight straight before last weekend's heartbreaker in Carthage. Next: Thursday hosts No. 6 Sherrard; Tuesday vs. TBD in the Illinois 2A Rockridge Regional.
13 (tie). Stark County (18-8) 9 14 -- Last week: Beat No. 8 Wethersfield, 56-39 Wednesday; Beat ROWVA, 46-26 Monday. Note: The Rebels are spoiling for a three-match with No. 8 Wethersfield, seeking a series sweep and hoping state and local voters finally take notice. Next: Monday vs. Galva in the Illinois 1A Annawan Regional.
15. Bellevue (16-3) 3 NR -- Last week: Beat Lisbon, 52-35 Friday; Won at Northeast Goose Lake, 54-33 Tuesday. Note: Not only bounced back from an 0-2 start, but avenged their lone loss of 2013 at Goose Lake. Next: Friday hosts Camanche; Tuesday hosts Midland Wyoming.
16. Preston (14-4) 1 NR -- Last week: Won at Midland Wyoming, 56-50 Friday; Beat Clinton Prince of Peace, 55-40 Tuesday. Note: If the Trojans want to share the Big East title with Bellevue, they'll need to knock off fellow title contenders Friday and Tuesday while also hoping for a lot of help. Bellevue already has a title share at 12-2 in the league. Preston, Camanche and Marquette all are 10-4. Next: Friday at Bellevue Marquette; Saturday at Durant-Bennett; Tuesday at Calamus-Wheatland.
-- Dropped out: None.

Next: Friday at No. 7 Prophetstown; Wednesday vs. Polo in the Illinois 1A Polo Regional.
-- Pleasant Valley (10-8): Last week: Beat Davenport West, 53-18 Friday; Won at Burlington, 58-43 Tuesday. Note: The Spartans are 0-5 outside of the MAC. Next: Friday hosts Davenport Central; Tuesday at North Scott.

-- North Scott (12-6): Last week: Beat Davenport Central, 58-22 Friday; Won at Davenport North, 65-27 Tuesday. Note: Evan Hundley is having a great season, averaging 13.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 blocks and 1.7 steals. Next: Friday hosts No. 5 Muscatine; Tuesday hosts Pleasant Valley.
