Dean Blumer, 71, of Davenport, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, followed by a private service and burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. A public memorial service is a later date.
He married Sharon K. Nest in 1963.
Surviving are his wife; children, Brent Blumer, Moline, Becky Powell, Bettendorf; six grandchildren; siblings, Kathleen Lee, Patricia MacBeth-Goetsch, Wayne Blumer, Davenport.

1989 — 25 years ago: Special Olympics competitors were triple winners at Rock Island High School Saturday. The participants vanquished the rain that fell during the competition, and some won their events; but most important, they triumphed over their own disabilities.
