John Bentley, 78, of Davenport, died Nov. 17, 2012, at his home.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Weerts, Davenport. Private graveside services will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
He was born in 1934 in Racine, Wis., to Lionel and Eva Bentley. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then worked for Alcoa for 42 years.
Survivors include his sister, Barbara (William) Case, Bettendorf; niece, Linda Shafer, Mesa, Ariz.; nephews, Glen Bentley, Davenport and Dr. Neal Bentley, Ames, Iowa.

1989 -- 25 years ago: The Rock Island City Council's plan announced this week to have the federal government vacate Valley Homes public housing and move residents to Arsenal Courts to reduce density may not be feasible.
