Rock Island — The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging, an Aging and Disability ResourceCenter, in partnership with Rock Island County Senior Center and Walgreens is holding a Medicareenrollment and informational event on Friday, November 30th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The address for theevent is: 729 – 34th Avenue, Rock Island, IL. The annual Medicare open enrollment period for 2012 forthose with Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage Plans will be ending December 7th. If you still needassistance with a Medicare plan comparison, plan enrollment, have questions about your medication orare seeking general information, do not miss this opportunity. If you know you need a plan comparisonor plan enrollment, please call ahead for an appointment (793-6800). Senior Health Insurance Program(SHIP) counselors will be available on site to assist you. Please bring verification of income, assets,current insurance plan and a list of medications and dosages you take. If you just need information onMedicare benefits, Medicare fraud or want to learn what other benefits you may be eligible for please feelfree to walk-in during the hours of this event.

The Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit corporation created for the purpose ofimproving the quality of life for older Americans. The specific objectives of the agency are threefold: toenable older adults to live in their own homes as long as possible with appropriate supportive services; toremove individual and social barriers to economic and personal independence for older persons includingthe provision of opportunities for employment and volunteer activities; and to act as an advocate forolder persons in developing community resources for older adults throughout the ten county area whileproviding a comprehensive service network.
