Lavonne Anna "Bonnie" Martens, 81, of Savanna, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, in Mt. Carroll.

A funeral is at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Law-Jones, Savanna, with visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Bonnie was born in 1931. She married Harry "Pete" Martens in 1947.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Connie Bell (Steven); son, Tim (Susan); five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Gloria) Kunde; and sister, Nancy (Carl) Gates.

1989 -- 25 years ago: Few bricks actually tumbled, but no one seemed to mind as about 1,000 people gathered to celebrate the formal start of demolition at the site of a downtown civic center.
