His daughter is Sally (Tom) Fuller, Moline. His grandchildren are Stacey (Jeff) Gerstel, Colona; and Jessica (Jason) Stahl, Aledo. He has four great-grandchildren. He retired from Deere & Co., as a project architect, in 1985 after 36 years. He is a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
