Services for Bette Schmid, 86, Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, Moline and Rock Island, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony, Davenport. Burial is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She died Friday, Nov 9, 2012, at Bethany Home, Dubuque. She was born in 1926.
Survivors are husband, John; brother, Paul Davis; children, Chris, Hudson, Wis., Jack, Dubuque, KathyMunson, Paradise Valley, Ariz., Nan Johnson, New York City; and three grandchildren.

1989 -- 25 years ago: The B-29 Super-Fortress bomber is impressive looking, and it did the job during World War II. Its claim to fame is dropping the atomic bombs in Japan to end the war. Only one B-29 is operational in the world today. It is on display at the Quad City Airport in Moline until Friday.
