Alleman pre-selling tickets for Friday's football game against Rock Island

Alleman will have advance ticket sales for its Western Big 6 Conference football game against Rock Island at Moline's Browning Field starting today. All tickets can be purchased in the Alleman main office, 1103 40th St., Rock Island.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students in grades kindergarten through 12. Anyone interested can come to the school from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today through Friday.

1964 -- 50 years ago: Two of Rock Island's newest water towers were vandalized last night, including the one at 38th Street and 31st Avenue, where police took five Moline boys into custody about 9 p.m..
1989 -- 25 years ago: Some of us who live in the Quad-Cities take the Mississippi River for granted, or at least we used to. But the river is not taken for granted by our visitors. And most Quad-Citians are realizing the importance of the river to this area as increased emphasis is placed on tourism.
