Which approach to modernizing county offices do you support: Consolidation at the Quad Cities Industrial Center, new construction or some other plan?
The process is still in its infancy and a lot of questions still need to be answered while others are independently verified. I support the QCIC option as long as it can be proven to be done with little or no tax increase as compared to other options.
Should the county hire a professional administrator?
No. I believe the board and county have proven leaders who can, and do, effectively manage operations. In a tough economy we should not be adding expenses to the county budget when we are asking everyone else to make cuts.
Do you support reducing the size of the county board?
No. We have 10 years before the next redistricting process. Before that deadline we can answer questions to allow citizens a clearer vision of how reductions may be implemented. By looking at the whole picture we won't make uninformed decisions without researching potential increased expenses and other problems, such as representation, which may be caused by a board reduction.
What are your goals for the county, if you're elected?
Economic development is paramount. Continue to provide effective and efficient services to the residents of the county. Strive to retain residents as well as work to recruit graduates to make Rock Island County their home. Strive for existing business expansion as well as new business development; the jobs created need to support middle and upper income wages and benefits.

Which approach to modernizing county offices do you support: Consolidation at the
Quad Cities Industrial Center, new construction or some other plan?
With the limited information I have, it would be premature to give a definitive answer concerning the possible future of county offices. Further surveys and studies need to be conducted of not only comparative cost analysis of the different plans, but an analysis of the wisdom and ability of the county to sustain indebtedness of over $30 million.
Should the county hire a professional administrator?
Many counties, cities and municipalities have done so with success. It tends to reduce partisan politics.
Do you support reducing the size of the county board?
A 25 member board is excessive. We would save approximately $60,000 a year with a reduction to 15 members. Representation would not be harmed. Most people don't know who their board member is now or what the board does.
What are your goals for the county, if you're elected?
Help form a nonpartisan team of board members dedicated to developing an informed public, reducing spending, encouraging business, increasing the job market, and developing fiduciary responsibility.
