Kenneth Robert Gelski, 53, of Silvis, quietly passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at home with family at his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Christ the King Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with a Christian wake service at 3:30 p.m. Private burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for his sons' education fund.

Ken was born Dec. 16, 1958, in Moline, the son of Robert and Barbara Hancock Gelski. He married Karri Moseley on June 3, 1995, in Moline.

Ken worked at Eriksen Chevrolet-Buick, Milan. He previously worked at McLaughlin Motors, Moline, and was owner and operator of the former BrewBakers Brew Pub, Moline.

Ken was a Eucharistic minister and a reader at Christ the King Church, where he was a member. He received the General Motors Mark of Excellence Award Winner for the past two years. He was a former member of the Planning Commission for the city of Rock Island for 15 years, served as president of the East Town Business Association of Rock Island and was on the board of director's at Rock Island Chamber of Commerce.

Ken leaves behind his beautiful wife, Karri; sons, Scott Robert Gelski, Chicago, Samuel Robert Gelski and Sean Robert Gelski, both at home; parents, Bob and Barb Gelski, Colona; mother-in-law, Rose Verstraete, Moline; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved and adored. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Whitey Verstraete; great-aunt, Maggie Tehel; and niece, Christal Foltz.
