Robert F. "Bob" Wolever, 70, of Erie, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption Center.

Bob was born July 29, 1942, in Moline, the son of Robert D. and Hattie Wolever. He graduated from Erie High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Bob married Rhonda Trewin at Laverton Air Force Base, Melbourne, Australia on May 29, 1964. Upon returning to Erie, he went to work for John Deere Harvester, retiring in 2000. Bob was a member of the UAW Local 865 and the Denton-Schreiner American Legion Post 582. He volunteered his time at the King's Closet in Erie and the Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption Center. He loved sports, was a big Chicago Bears fan and was a proud member of the Erie High School 1960 Regional Champion basketball team. He had a love for animals and rescued many. Bob was a loving family man. His world revolved around his family.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; mother, Hattie Wolever, Prophetstown; children and spouses, Allisen (Grant) Rogers, Savannah, Ga., Kirsten (Joe) Cooper, Eldridge, and Gavin (Shannon) Wolever, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Owen and Ian Rogers, Devon Booton, Cole and Olivia Wolever; siblings, Pat Crump, Prophetstown, Barbara (Bob) Israel, Chino Hills, Calif., and Brett Wolever, Tucson, Ariz.; and his faithful dog, Mandy. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.
