Druscilla VanDamme
Private funeral services will be held for Druscilla on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The Rev. R. Anthony Lee will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the Atkinson Rescue Squad. Druscilla was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Como, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Bertha Hulslander Whipple. Druscilla was a graduate of Atkinson High School. She married Walter VanDamme on June 26, 1940, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death in 1984. She served as a rural mail carrier for the Atkinson Post Office for several years. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter (and spouse), LeAnne (Clay) Nielsen; son (and spouse), Lynn (Gail) VanDamme; three grandchildren, Jodi (J.R.) Hyde, Tracy VanDamme and Tyler Nielsen; four great-grandchildren, Jake Hyde, Noah and Brooke VanDamme, Druscilla Christine Hyde; four stepgrandchildren, Jason Welch, Jared Palmer, Mark (Lisa) Welch and Scott Welch; and two stepgreat-grandsons.
