Richard "Dick" E. Craine, 57, of Derby, Kan., passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012.

A memorial was held in Derby, on Thursday, Sept. 6. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Annawan. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, at the Sheffield United Methodist Church in Sheffield. Burial will be in Galva. Memorials may be left for Richard Craine Memorial Fund.

Dick was born on Jan. 1, 1955, to Frances and Harold Craine, in Havre de Grace, Md. He married Sheryl Struckman in Elgin, Ill., on Jan. 9, 1982.

Dick was a 1973 graduate of Manlius High School. In 1977, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of Nabor House fraternity. Dick was always known as an avid Fighting Illini fan and later as a proud Illini dad. Most recently, he was also a very proud Kansas Jayhawk father.

After graduation, Dick was employed by Production Credit Association. For several years, he was employed by the USDA Meat Grading Service and several meat packing houses in the Chicago area, as well as Fargo, N.D. For the past 13 years, Dick had been employed by Cargill Meat Solutions in Wichita, Kan.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl, son Kevin and daughter Courtney, all of Derby. Dick is also survived by his mother Frances, brothers Roger (Lenore) Craine of Sheffield and Dean (Penny) Craine, of Princeton, Ill.; along with six nephews; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Gene" Craine.
