Manuel Jesus Munoz, 83, of Moline, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th St., Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to his family.

Manuel was born on May 30, 1929, in Lebu, Chile, the son of Luis and Rosa Mardones Munoz. He married Nefra Alicia Huenteo Parra on March 25, 1955, in Lebu, Chile.

In 1977, Manuel emigrated from Chile to the United States, becoming an American citizen in 1999. He attended the United Methodist Church Seminary in Chicago. He also served at the First United Methodist Church in Valparaiso, Ind. Manuel was a Methodist Minister at Hispanic United Methodist Church in Rock Island, retiring in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Nefra Alicia Munoz, Moline; children, Manuel Munoz, Valparaiso, Patricia (Raul) Zepeda, Moline, Luis (Dawn) Munoz, Valparaiso, Daniel (Estela) Munoz, Rock Island, Esteban (Norma) Munoz, Rock Island, Rebeca Garcia, Moline, and Moises Munoz, Utah; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Irma Munoz, Chile. He was preceded in death by his son, Victor, and daughter, Luciana.
