Hazel B. Anderson, 94, of Viola, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at the Mercer County Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Viola United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Hazel Anderson Memorial Fund.

Hazel was born on Sept. 22, 1917, in Mercer County, Ill., to Seyler and Florence Kasenberg Robinson. She married Carl Anderson on Sept. 29, 1940, in Memphis, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2000.

Hazel was a dedicated member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church and the Viola American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, puzzles, crosswords and watching her soap operas. She cherished the time spent with her family.

Hazel is survived by her son, Gene Anderson, Viola; 11 grandchildren and spouses, Amos Anderson, Travis and Shawndee Anderson, Darrin Anderson, Teri Anderson, Julie and Dennis Olson, Jim and Kim Winkler, Jane and Jack Johnson, Judi and Bob Clevenger, Jackie and Wayne Bruns, Jill and Eddie Perry and Karla and Bill Hager; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Dale and Harold "Andy" Anderson; a great-grandson, Jared Kole Anderson; great-granddaughter, Jamie Anderson; five brothers, Vernon, Merle, Darrell "Red," Robert and Marion; and a sister, Ethel.

At the age of 88, when many other seniors are dozing in theirchairs or sitting before the television, Mr. Kuschmann is planning and working on hiscollection.
