BCSD Superintendent Theron J. Schutte, Ph.D. Installed on Governing Board of the American Association School Administrators

37 Governing Board Members take office

August 1, 2012, Alexandria, Va. - Bettendorf Community School District Superintendent Theron J. Schutte, Ph.D. was among the 37 new members of the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators sworn in at an installation and reception at the board's regular meeting in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, July 19, 2012.

Governing Board members are elected by AASA members in their states and serve a term of three years. The Governing Board is part of the elected leadership of the Association, and members both represent their home state and report on the work of the Association to their home state affiliate.

In addition to the installation at the July meeting, the Governing Board heard reports from four Members of Congress on current legislation affecting public education and visited congressional delegations on Capitol Hill to discuss pressing education issues. They also discussed national and regional AASA governance issues.

Membership on the AASA Governing Board is based upon the number of eligible voting members in each state affiliate. Each state affiliate is guaranteed at least two representatives on the Governing Board. Members may be reelected.

The current roster of Governing Board members, along with contact information and photographs, is available on the AASA website.
