Donald W. "Grease Monkey" Littig Jr., 65, of Hampton, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

The family will receive friends at a gathering celebrating Don's life to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the family home, 513 10th Ave., Hampton. Inurnment will be at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Donald was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Moline, a son of Donald W. Littig Sr. and Betty Jane Warren Littig. He married Julia Jo Long on June 29, 1968, in Hampton.

He worked for more than 30 years at Deere & Co. He retired from the Parts Distribution Center, Milan, in 1999.

Donald loved fishing, boating and talking on the CB radio. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed building drag cars and stock cars. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Julia, Hampton; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Penny Littig, Hampton; granddaughters, Jennifer and Stephanie Littig, both of Hampton; great-grandsons, Kevin Paul and Evan James, both of Hampton; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Diane Littig, Moline; brothers-in-law, Scott P. Long, Coyne Center, and Kevin C. Long, Milan; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and special friends, Tim and Helene Waynick, Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Mary Long; and two sisters-in-law, Toni Jo Long and Cynthia F. "Cindi" Long.
