Gertrude A. DeBoever, 89, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island.

A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will be in the North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Gertrude will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo, where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the St. Malachy's Catholic Church.

Gertrude was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in Lindsay, Neb., the daughter of John and Frances Jasper. She was united in marriage to Morris A. DeBoever on June 10, 1944, in St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Gertrude assisted Morris in farming in rural Geneseo for many years. She was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Circle No. 9 of the church, Henry County Farm Bureau, and a former member of Women of Moose. Gertrude enjoyed canning and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Kenny) Hipskind, East Moline; a son, John (Deb) DeBoever, Geneseo; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Corey) Gradert, Amy DeBoever, Marisa (T.J.) Thompson, Janah (David) Cunningham and Jeffrey Hipskind; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and five brothers.
