Oak View Country Club celebrates 90th birthday

Mercer County's Oak View Country Club celebrates its 90th birthday this month with a celebration open to the public on Saturday, June 16.

The Kenny Paulsen Quartet will perform from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 16 at Oak View's clubhouse, 1601 SW Third Ave., Aledo. The club also will offer wine and cheese tasting during the event, as well as a cake cutting at 4 p.m. that day.

The country club's dining room will be open to the public that evening with a regular menu. Doug Perkins, recently of Moon River Supper Club in Andalusia, manages the clubhouse staff.

Special membership rates are being offered between June 16 and Aug. 1, 2012, in observance of the 90th anniversary. Families and singles may become golf members at Oak View for $90 off annual dues; social members may join for only $90 for a year.

Founded in 1922, Oak View Country Club has been a premiere community setting for many local golf and social outings through the years. OVCC is a private, member-owned club offering elegance, relaxation and exceptional recreational and social facilities within a magnificent setting on the south edge of Aledo.
