BHS hosts Cardboard Boat Regatta Friday

Students from Bettendorf, Pleasant Valley, Moline and other high schools from the Quad-Cities area will test cardboard boat designs at a regatta cardboard boat competition from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Middle Park Lagoon. The Quad City Engineering Organization will judge the event and give out awards. Approximately 35 boats will be on display at 7:45 a.m. at the lagoon shelter. The one-man cardboard vessels must be maneuverable and able to stay afloat for approximately 600 yards.

This year's festival has beenexpanded to five days, June 22-26, at the Northeast Park complex.
