Safe Wheels Bike Safety Rodeo May 19 in Prophetstown

PROPHETSTOWN -- The 13th annual "Safe Wheels" Bike Safety Rodeo will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday May 19, on the playground at the Prophetstown Elementary School.

This annual event is free for all children Pre-K through fifth grades and sponsored by Winning Wheels, Prophetstown.

The event includes a giant slide with obstacle course and toddler jungle gym for the kids, Bike Safety Course, free bike inspection/repair clinic, bike registration, door prizes, fair games, a BMX Stunt Show, food and fun

Free Bicycle Inspection/Repair Clinic provided by the Prophetstown Police Department.

"Wonder Wheels BMX" of Indianapolis, Ind., will provide a BMX Stunt Show and presenting a message of bike and helmet safety.

The raffle will be for a bench made by the resident's woodshop at Winning Wheels.

There are lots of prizes for the kids and eight new bicycles will be given away, but you must be present to win. Drawing for bikes will begin about 10:20 a.m., prior to the start of the stunt show.

As part of its ongoing Brain Injury Prevention Program, Winning Wheels will once again provide free bike helmets to the Kindergarten class and any new students to the Prophetstown Elementary School. Helmets will be handed out at the school prior to the day's event on Wednesday, May 16.

Door prizes are awarded randomly on a first come, first serve basis. In the event of rain, most of the events will take place inside to the gyn.
