East Moline police to conduct traffic campaign through May 28
Press release submitted by the East Moline Police Department
The East Moline Police Department will be conducting several traffic enforcement details during the Memorial Day Holiday campaign between May 11-28, 2012.
Officers working the Safety Belt Enforcement Zone details will be checking drivers and front seat passengers to make sure they are wearing their seat belts. Officers will be issuing citations for speeding, impaired driving and for violations of the Child Passenger Protection Act as well. Several of these zones will be nighttime enforcement. We will also be conducting nighttime saturation patrols. Additionally, officers will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check.
These traffic campaigns are funded through a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The East Moline Police Department encourages everyone to buckle up, drive careful and most importantly refrain from driving while impaired.
