Rock Island junior wrestler B.J. McGhee won the 120-pound title in the Junior Bracket at the Illinois Freestyle State Championship this weekend. McGhee topped Sebastian Pique, who finished second in the Class 3A 120-pound bracket in February, by a 2-0, 2-1 decision in the championship bout.

This is the second consecutive year McGhee has won the freestyle state title.

Also winning a state title was Moline's Kole Brower, who took the 75-pound championship in the Bantam Bracket.

Moline sophomore Adarios Jones was second in the 285-pound Junior Bracket and Washington Junior High's Shadarke Niyonkuru was runner-up in the 265-pound Schoolboy Bracket. Alleman sophomore Connor Doak (195, Cadet) and Wilson Middle School's Aaron Ditsworth (160, Schoolboy) also finished third.

McGhee and Jones both qualify for July's ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships in Fargo, N.D.
