Marcus Clara Ruiz, 91, of East Moline, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the home of her son, Phillip, in Rock Island.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
Marcus Garcia was born April 25, 1921, in Mineola, Kan., daughter of Lorenzo and Antonia Gonzalez Garcia. She married Robert Ruiz on June 28, 1952, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis.
Marcus had worked as a machine operator and in the shipping department at John Deere Harvester, East Moline. Marcus enjoyed gardening, crocheting and doing home improvements.
Survivors include her children, Roseann Fenner Ruiz, Carbon Cliff, Christina Ruiz Hernandez, Grandview, Iowa, Phillip Ruiz, Rock Island, and Cynthia Ruiz, Blue Grass; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sisters, Martina Garcia, Ramona Sandoval and Severina Ybarra; brothers, Isabel, Ray and Patrick; and a grandson, Joseph Hernandez Jr.
