Helen L. Thulin, 72, of Orion, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th Ave., Orion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th St., Orion. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church, where she was a member, or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Helen was born on Feb. 5, 1940, in Rio, the daughter of Arthur and Lela Rednour Wright. She married Charles "Chick" Thulin on Nov. 9, 1958, at Ophiem Lutheran Church.

She worked as an office secretary for Charles Sheesley Insurance and later became a devoted homemaker. Helen coached softball and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Thulin, Orion; daughters, Deena (Steve) Johnson, Orion, Lori (Randy) McVietty, Orion; four grandchildren, Christopher (April) Mielke, Orion, Michael Johnson, Orion, Jodi McVietty, Coal Valley, Matthew McVietty, Orion; two great-grandchildren, Caiden Mielke, Elizabeth "Elli" Mielke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George.
