Chuck and Sharon Hoaglund, East Moline, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on May 6, 2012.
Sharon K. Hanson, Geneseo, married Charles R. Hoaglund, Moline, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Edford Township, on Sunday, May 6, 1962.
Chuck and Sharon honeymooned throughout Europe after picking up from the factory a new 1962 Volkswagen Beetle. To this day you will find them touring around the country with their love of old cars and a good adventure.
They are the parents of Janice (Tony) Drain, Moline, and John Hoaglund, deceased. They also have two grandchildren, Sarah and James Drain.
Chuck is retired from United Airlines and Sharon was a beautician, as well as a full-time homemaker. They enjoy local history and antique automobiles. They are members of First Lutheran Church, Moline.
A family celebration is being planned by their daughter and will be held at a later date.

Although she's been teaching for 43 years at the school, Miss Dayfound a new way of arriving at the school this morning. At 7:30 a.m., a police squad carpulled up in front of Miss Day's home and escorted her to school. A caravan of students' cars joined the procession along the way. 1988 -- 25 years ago: Barbecue cooking and riverfront antics are planned for Discover the River Day Saturday in Leach Park, Bettendorf. A 5K run, wind surfing, a canoe race, hogcalling and more will round out the day under the Interstate 74 bridge.
