Carlene R. Sullivan, 89, East Moline, went to heaven to join her husband, after a long battle with Alzheimer's on April 29, 2012.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, East Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
Carlene was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Stillwell, Ill., the daughter of Martin D. and Bernice F. Tanner Reed. She graduated from Bowen High School, Bowen, Ill. She married James F. Sullivan at First Christian Church on April 7, 1946.
Carlene had worked at John Deere during World War II, but enjoyed being a homemaker after the birth of her four children. She was a member of the CWF at First Christian Church and a member of TOPS and KOPS. She truly enjoyed her family. She was a great cook, fantastic seamstress, and a wonderful mother to her four children.
She is survived by her children, James M. (Debbie) Sullivan, Davenport, Patricia J. (Gary) Gurnicz, Springfield, Va., Judith L. (Stephen) Petersen, Davenport, and Penni (Dan) Allen, East Moline; sister, Maxine (Gailen) Brown, Cherry Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, with one due on May 28; two nephews; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 6, 1997; and a grandson, Derek M. Sullivan on June 13, 1999.

A 5K run, wind surfing, a canoe race, hogcalling and more will round out the day under the Interstate 74 bridge.
