Quad City Animal Welfare Center (QCAWC) to celebrate 35th Anniversary Open House Saturday, May 5, 2012

(Milan, IL) – To celebrate our 35th Anniversary and Be Kind to Animals Week, the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, QCAWC will hold an Open House on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Join the QCAWC staff and volunteers for a fun filled day. Visit with the shelter animals available for adoption; enjoy raffle items, a silent auction, and shelter tours. All proceeds will benefit the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

The Quad City Animal Welfare Center is the only full service no-kill animal shelter located in the Quad Cities. Our mission is a shelter for homeless animals, to support a spay and a neuter program, and to provide humane education. The QCAWC Adoption Center is open Monday-Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extended hours on Wednesday until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our low cost, high quality vaccination clinic is open every Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 pm to 3:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to noon. At 7:30 a.m., a police squad carpulled up in front of Miss Day's home and escorted her to school. A caravan of students' cars joined the procession along the way.
1988 -- 25 years ago: Barbecue cooking and riverfront antics are planned for Discover the
River Day Saturday in Leach Park, Bettendorf. A 5K run, wind surfing, a canoe race, hogcalling and more will round out the day under the Interstate 74 bridge.
